What is a Metrc Specialist?

A Metrc Specialist is a professional responsible for managing and maintaining compliance within the cannabis industry using the Metrc system, which is a state-mandated seed-to-sale tracking software. They ensure all cannabis inventory and transactions are accurately tracked and reported according to state regulations. Metrc Specialists often train staff, troubleshoot Metrc-related issues, and act as a liaison between the business and regulatory agencies. Their role is crucial in preventing compliance violations and streamlining operations within licensed cannabis businesses.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Metrc Specialist?

To thrive as a Metrc Specialist, you need detailed knowledge of cannabis compliance regulations, inventory management, and data entry, usually supported by experience in the cannabis industry or a related regulatory environment. Familiarity with Metrc tracking software, state compliance platforms, and basic spreadsheet tools is typically required. These skills are critical to ensure accurate, compliant reporting and inventory tracking in a highly regulated industry.
