Job description

Scrap Metal Buyer (Trainable)

Aaron Metals Company
Oakland, CA

Aaron Metals is seeking a Scrap Metal Buyer to join our team. This role is focused on purchasing non-ferrous scrap, working with suppliers, and supporting daily yard operations.

We are not looking for prior scrap experience. We are looking for someone who knows how to deal with people, exercises sound judgment, and can be trained properly.


Responsibilities

  • Purchase non-ferrous scrap (aluminum, copper, brass, stainless, etc.)
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers, and peddlers at the scale
  • Evaluate material and assist with grading and pricing
  • Communicate with yard staff to ensure proper receiving and processing
  • Identify off-grade material and escalate issues as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and transactions
  • Support inventory awareness and avoid over-buying


Qualifications

  • Strong customer service experience and communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with a wide range of personalities
  • Reliable, organized, and attentive to detail
  • Able to learn quickly and make practical decisions
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced, hands-on yard environment
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Aaron Metals Company is a growing, family-owned, 50-year-old scrap metal recycling facility in Oakland and Hayward, Calif. We service the San Francisco Bay Area’s commercial and industrial businesses. We are also open 6 days/week for public drop-off.
