Conklin Metal Industries is hiring a Class A CDL Driver for our Apex, NC branch. This is a hands on driving position delivering sheet metal, HVAC, and duct fabrication materials to customers throughout the area.

We have been in business since 1874 and are now in our fourth generation of family ownership. With 18 locations throughout the Southeast, we offer the stability of an established company while still maintaining a family oriented culture.

What You'll Do

This is more than a drop and hook driving position. Our drivers are an important part of the customer experience and are responsible for safely delivering materials from our branch to our customers.

Your day may include:

  • Safely operating a commercial truck and trailer
  • Completing pre trip inspections
  • Making local and regional customer deliveries
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Securing loads using straps, chains, webbing, and tarps
  • Checking bills of lading, manifests, and freight for accuracy
  • Hooking and unhooking trailers
  • Operating pallet jacks, forklifts, lift gates, and other equipment
  • Maintaining required DOT documentation
  • Keeping your truck and trailer clean and safe
  • Providing professional, friendly service to our customers

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a dependable driver who takes safety, reliability, and customer service seriously.

You should be comfortable:

  • Working independently
  • Loading, unloading, and securing freight
  • Performing the physical duties associated with commercial driving
  • Getting in and out of the truck throughout the day
  • Lifting and moving materials
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Following DOT, state, federal, and company safety requirements

Flatbed experience and experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping are especially valuable.
