The Mechanical Insulation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of insulation systems on mechanical equipment. You will play a crucial role in the construction industry by installing insulation and jacketing on piping, process systems, and equipment in industrial and commercial facilities. This role ensures energy efficiency, system protection, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install insulation materials on piping systems, ductwork, tanks, and mechanical equipment
  • Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials (fiberglass, foam, mineral wool, etc.)
  • Apply vapor barriers, weatherproofing, and protective coverings (metal jacketing, PVC, etc.)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders
  • Inspect and repair existing insulation systems as needed
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and project specifications
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and job site requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to ensure efficient project completion
  • Working Conditions
  • Construction sites, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings
  • Exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes, and confined spaces
  • Requires use of ladders, scaffolding, and lifts
  • Lift and carry insulation materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Knowledge of insulation materials and installation techniques

  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials
  • Manual dexterity for cutting and fitting insulation
