What You’ll Do:

As a Subject Matter Expert at Metafora, you will directly impact recommendations and results for Metafora clients, ranging from privately held to Fortune 50 companies. This role will enable you to enhance your consulting skills in business and networking while working with a team of highly skilled professionals. This is a client facing role with direct access to C-suite executives and the life cycle of their accounts.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Interfacing with clients to understand how their businesses operate today, identifying areas for improvement, and utilizing your industry expertise to create future state solutions to demonstrate how changes will help them reach their organizational goals
  • Collaborate with Metafora Management Consulting team and P&E teams to provide industry expertise to ensure we deliver the right solutions to our clients
  • Building rapport and credibility with key client stakeholders by actively participating in client calls, meetings and presentations, challenging the client when necessary, sharing industry trends and insights and becoming a trusted advisor for the client
  • Driving revenue for assigned accounts through account management activities
  • Using your deep knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry to provide subject matter expertise across consulting projects covering:
    • Technology Strategy, including Build vs. Buy analysis
    • Project Management and System Implementation Support
    • Organization Transformation and Change Management
    • Business Assessments and Benchmarking
    • Business Process Assessment and Redesign
    • Operating Model and Organization Design
      • Compensation Assessment and Restructure
    • Leading client engagements where you’ll be analyzing business operations, communicating recommendations, and executing suggested changes
  • Providing input into multiple consulting engagements concurrently (up to 3) providing subject matter expertise e.g., workshopping solutions to pain points, providing teams with industry context based on your industry experience
  • Working closely with the business development team to support and own the development of proposals and Statements of Work (SoWs)
  • Utilizing Metafora best practices and practitioner guidelines to deliver high-quality, branded services
  • Communicating effectively across the business with other concentration and/or niche leaders to deliver the best solution for the client
  • Utilize your professional network to keep a pulse on market trends, and best practices across the brokerage and 3PL industry
  • Contribute to the development of the Metafora consulting practice by participating in firm initiatives including development of company intellectual property and thought leadership

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10 + years working within the Transportation and Logistics space with deep expertise in Trucking and Brokerage. Additional experience in the following areas are a bonus:
    • TMS and/ or WMS Selection and Implementation
    • Warehousing and Distribution
    • Drayage and Intermodal Transportation
    • Carrier Procurement as a Shipper
    • LTL
    • Parcel/ E-Commerce
  • Intimate experience with Logistics processes and best practices
  • Hands on experience using a variety of common brokerage technologies and tools
  • Experience leading a change initiative, examples includes
    • TMS selection process
    • Expansion a new service offering
    • Supporting software selection and implementation
    • Compensation design and implementation
    • Department wide training of new process
  • Well-rounded experience within the transportation and logistics space, and proven client-facing skills and experience
  • Combination of experience both in operational roles and management positions
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Polished communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Advanced presentation skills, including the ability to tell a story and deliver messaging through Google Slides and/or Powerpoint
  • Demonstrated project management skills with ability to prioritize high impact activities and keep complicated projects moving forward to meet deadlines
  • Ability to simultaneously work independently and within a team culture
  • Exceptional time Management and prioritization skills
  • Executive presence and ability to challenge clients based on deep knowledge and understanding of industry best practices


Preferred Requirements:

  • 10 + years working directly within a Transportation department of a Shipper, Asset based trucking company, Warehousing and Distribution
  • 2 + years consulting / client engagement experience (working directly with clients) is a plus
  • Experience with a variety of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other industry technologies
  • Participation in product development and/ or design
  • Proven ability to add value across multiple project delivery teams
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills as related to building trusted relationships with internal and external business partners

Additional Information:
