Job description

Tri Delta is seeking a Director of Brand Advancement, Strategic Messaging & Public Relations to be be a leader within Tri Delta's Brand Advancement Team who will be responsible for developing and leading business-critical communications, public relations initiatives, and stakeholder messaging that support organizational priorities, strengthen reputation, and advance Tri Delta's mission. This role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing communication strategy and counsel for operational initiatives, issues management, and high-impact stakeholder engagement.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced public relations or crisis communications professional with a passion for supporting member-based organizations.
The role is remote eligible. Candidates must be physically located in the US and eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Corporate/Executive Communications:
  • Lead the development of high-impact, business-critical communications, including executive talking points, FAQs, stakeholder messaging, presentations, video messaging and scripts tied to organizational initiatives that reflect Tri Delta's voice and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on messaging strategy, particularly in complex, sensitive, or high-risk situations.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency across all stakeholder communications, balancing brand voice with operational clarity and legal considerations.
  • Collaborate across the Enterprise to develop clear, consistent messaging frameworks for complex, high-stakes organizational initiatives; translate operational, legal, and reputational considerations into effective communication.
  • Lead crisis and issues communication developing timely, thoughtful and coordinated messaging for organizational incidents, including those reported through the collegiate Incident Response process, while partnering with leadership to ensure accurate and aligned communications.
  • Anticipate stakeholder questions, concerns, and risks, and proactively address them through clear, structured communication.

Strategic Communications:
  • Develops clear, action-oriented marketing copy that supports organizational priorities and member engagement initiatives, driving awareness and participation.
  • Partner cross-functionally to lead oversight of all event and stakeholder scripting include but not limited to Founders' Day, Convention, Collegiate Leadership Conference and Volunteer Leadership Conference.
  • Advance Tri Delta's reputation as a thought leader by identifying and developing strategic public relations and thought leadership opportunities that elevate the organization's expertise, insights and influence.
  • Collaborate with Brand Advancement directors to maintain messaging consistency.
  • Guide the strategic messaging team in developing operational content creation, editing and writing for stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, motivate, mentor, and grow the strategic messaging team to ensure successful execution of business imperative content.
  • Oversee team responsible for Enterprise-wide copyediting.
  • Promote Brand Advancement project processes to support team efficiency and alignment.
  • Identify content opportunities to drive innovation and sustain Tri Delta's brand reputation.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is required.
  • A Master's degree in Strategic Communications, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.

Skills
  • Strategic Leadership & Brand Management: Strong understanding of brand strategy, messaging frameworks, and enterprise-wide communication planning; Ability to lead and align communication efforts across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Proven ability to mentor, motivate, and grow high-performing communications teams.
  • Reputation & Risk Communications: Expertise in crisis communication principles and ability to respond quickly and appropriately to reputational risks; Experience managing incident response communications.
  • Public Relations: Excellent writing and editorial skills with the ability to craft clear, consistent, and compelling messaging; Ability to write scripts for events and presentations tailored to diverse audiences.; Existing media list is a plus.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret communication metrics and present insights to leadership.

Experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in strategic communications, brand management, or marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear, actionable, and audience-appropriate communications (e.g., FAQs, scripts, stakeholder messaging) that support organizational changes, policies, business operation and brand positioning.
  • Deep experience in crisis and issues management, including developing responsive communications in partnership with legal and organizational leadership; strong judgment under pressure.
  • Demonstrated success translating complex or technical information into clear, audience-centered messaging.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, membership-based, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
