Band 1U

HB Host/Hostess

Primary Responsibilities:

Welcome patrons and seat them at tables or in the lounge. Insure quality and rapidity of facilities and services. Answer phone and schedule dining reservations. Direct waithelp and service attendants to insure courteous and rapid service. Resolve or assist in resolving guest complaints. Inspect dining room serving stations and equipment for cleanliness and orderly appearance. Assist waithelp and service attendant in expediting service to guests.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist restaurant manager in overseeing the restaurant service staff.
  • Review daily work schedule and assign work stations.
  • Review occupancy report and reservations, VIP’s, special requests or occasions.
  • Greet and welcome guests to the restaurant and seat them at the table, present menu and personalize the service.
  • Answer telephone promptly and take dining reservations, noting special requests or occasion.
  • Respond to guest requests or inquires.
  • Knowledgeable on restaurant menu items
  • Consistently perform tasks as specified on sequence of service standards and SOPs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and dining room.
  • Thank guests upon their departure, call valet if needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:

  • Recommend the resort’s restaurants and facilities to guests.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and adequate par levels of menus.
  • Assist waithelp and service attendants in expediting service to guests or resetting tables.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoors in a specific restaurant (s)
  • Outdoor venues in all types of weather conditions.

Work Hours:

  • Able to work shift and days determined by the restaurant manager
  • Able to work more than 40 hours per week when needed

Equipment Use:

  • Telephone

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Able to manage the seating in the dining room to insure prompt and efficient guest service.
  • Able to stand, walk and reach during most of shift.
  • Able to handle disgruntled guests
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Communication Demands:

  • Able to communicate verbally employees, managers and guests.
  • Able to communicate over the phone.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Department of Health TB clearance
  • Must be able to read and write to perform job duties
  • Must be pleasant, friendly and smiling
  • Must be at least 18 years of age if serving or selling alcoholic beverages
