Job description

Promote Credit Union loan products and services to small and medium-sized businesses throughout the community. Provide assistance and training to branch team members in areas related to commercial lending. Loan sizes for this position can range up to $10MM unless an existing relationship has been established and/or manager's approval is granted. Provide mentorship to less experienced Commercial Loan Officers and Business Loan Officers.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Take a leadership role in representing the Credit Union to the local small business market to build awareness, brand image, credibility, and new business.
  • Actively participate in community business organizations and events.
  • Be responsible for generating and servicing a wide variety of small business loans. Contributes to deposit growth by cross selling and promoting additional credit union products.
  • Requires skills and experience in applicant interviewing and perceptive character judgment, loan structuring, credit analysis, and monitoring credit performance.
  • Coordinate and participate in joint calls with Business Relationship Officers, Private Client Officers, Wealth Management Officers, and other team members.
  • Aggressively seek and obtain quality new business from existing clients, prospecting calls, referrals, and cross selling efforts.
  • Build referral network of commercial realtors, CPAs, business brokers, and other business professionals.
  • Refer SBA 7a, and USDA B&I loans to the SBA Loan Officer(s).
  • Maintain in-depth product knowledge of all business services; provide quality referrals for business loans, merchant services, Preferred Pay, and other business and personal banking products.
  • Visit assigned branches monthly and cross-train team members as part of sales efforts; may conduct formal training on products and sales techniques.
  • When possible, bring junior loan officers on outside sales and join them on their calls to help mentor and train.
  • Assist Credit Union with collection efforts on delinquent business loans as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three to six years commercial banking experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending and commercial credit analysis required.
  • Ability to structure loans and monitor credit performance.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and organize tasks for optimal performance.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and sales skills.

  • Must take pride in the department and the credit union, always meeting and exceeding member's expectations.
  • Must be professional and courteous in manner, with a focus on attendance, quality, and quantity of work performed.
  • Must be willing to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act as implemented by ICCU.

Physical Requirements
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, typing, counting cash, etc.).
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Lift 20-40 pounds of applicable supplies including but not limited to copy paper, cash drawers, marketing material, etc.
  • Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Reach keyboards.
  • Ability to operate basic office machines (calculator, computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).
