Job description

Title: MEP Construction Manager
Location: Mississippi (onsite)
Duration: 12+ month contract
Compensation: $70 - 90/hr.
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
The MEP Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, installation, and commissioning of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems for a largescale, ground-up mission critical construction project. This role ensures that MEP work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, codes, and client standards. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in critical power and commissioning environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Construction Management
  • Manage MEP construction activities from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover
  • Coordinate MEP scope with general contractor, design teams, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Manage MEP construction schedules, phasing plans, and sequencing
  • Monitor budgets, change orders, procurement, and cost controls for MEP systems

Electrical & Mission Critical Systems
  • Lead coordination and oversight of electrical systems installation including:
    • Medium and high voltage power distribution
    • UPS systems, generators, paralleling switchgear
    • Critical power redundancy (N, N+1, 2N)
    • Grounding, bonding, and power quality systems
    • Lighting, controls, and emergency power systems
  • Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with mechanical and IT infrastructure
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing (IST)

Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce quality control procedures and commissioning requirements
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, local codes, and client standards
  • Support walkthroughs, inspections, and final acceptance including energization schedules and FOD inspections
  • Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and method statements

Stakeholder Coordination
  • Serve as the primary MEP point of contact for clients, consultants, and authorities
  • Lead MEP coordination meetings and resolve technical conflicts
  • Submit regular documentation on progress and raise any areas of concern promptly

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in MEP construction management
  • Strong background in electrical systems for mission-critical facilities
  • Proven experience on critical infrastructure projects
  • Experience self-sufficiently managing inspections and documentation for MEP commissioning and turnover processes

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to maintain active daily presence on construction sites
  • Capable of conducting extensive daily site walks (multiple hours per day)
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and access elevated work areas
  • Comfortable performing detailed inspections with small components
  • Ability to work extended hours as project demands require
