Job description

North Park University, a proud member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, would like to announce that applications are now being accepted for the position of Head Men's Basketball Coach. This twelve-month, full-time position directs all aspects of an intercollegiate basketball program including recruitment, retention, coaching, scheduling, team travel, fundraising, and budgeting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the men's basketball program at North Park University.
  • Analyze performance and instruct athletes in basketball techniques and strategies in preparation for and during athletics competition.
  • Execute game and practice planning/evaluation, including video exchange and breakdown.
  • Provide on-site coaching in tournaments and practices, including organization and implementation of training schedules for all team members.
  • Manage all phases of competitive NCAA and CCIW compliant recruiting.
  • Ensure a commitment to the academic success of basketball student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
  • Participate in fundraising and development events and be visible in the campus community.
  • Hire, supervise, develop, and evaluate part-time, volunteer, or graduate assistant coaches.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Sport Management, and Associate and Assistant Athletic Directors.

Salary range: $65,000 to $90,000

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Coaching experience and extensive knowledge of the sport of basketball at the intercollegiate level are required.
  • Applicants must be able to work an untraditional work schedule (i.e. frequent nights and weekends).
  • Able to lift and move athletic equipment.
  • Able to travel with team, by vehicle or plane.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park's mission of Christian higher education.
