Description

This Assistant Men's Basketball Coach will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of a men's basketball program. The primary responsibility is to support the head men's basketball coach, and support staff in all facets of day to day program operations. Candidates should possess an enthusiasm for working with student-athletes, a strong basketball background, excellent oral and written communication skills, a relentless work-ethic, and a commitment to following NAIA rules. This position aids the head coach in practice, games, conditioning, scouting opponents, recruiting and film work. Responsible for assisting the head coach in enforcing institutional, conferences and NAIA regulations. They will report directly to the head coach and athletic director.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit student-athletes according to Admission Office and NAIA procedures.
  • Assists the head coach in scheduling and providing transportation.
  • Assists in preparing events and practices.
  • Attends all practices and games.
  • Ability to breakdown film of opponents and prepare scouting reports for team and staff.
  • Carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the Head Coach
  • Cooperates with other staff to ensure that the student-athlete is provided with services to succeed academically and personally.
  • Maintains good relationship with alumnus, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.
  • Rules and regulations set forth by SMWC and NAIA, should be maintained, reviewed and practiced ensuring compliance relative to those applicable duties.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Update Coaches Recruiting Report.
  • Help process credit card statements and check requisitions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain practice and game facility as applicable.
  • Develop gameday itineraries, secure lodging, and plan meals for all team travel dates.
  • Provide travel information for faculty.

Supervision:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision of student-athletes, and student staff.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small college setting and the ability to balance all student-athlete needs.
  • Proven coaching experience in the assigned sport.
  • Ability to recruit and retain student-athletes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and OneDrive (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Hudl, Sportscode, Gamebreaker, or Synergy preferred
  • High school and college playing experience preferred
  • 2+ years of relative assistant coaching experience at a NAIA, or NCAA preferred
  • Valid Driver's License/State ID preferred
