The Summit Area YMCA is seeking tech-savvy, customer-focused Member Service Representatives to support both our Summit and Berkeley Heights branches. In this highly visible, member-facing role, you will be the welcoming face of the Y, creating a positive and supportive experience for every person who walks through our doors.
As a Member Service Representative, you will help members check in, register for programs, and access information about everything from swim lessons to wellness classes. You will work in a fast-paced, people-centered environment where every interaction matters.
A warm, friendly presence, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for helping others are essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist members and guests in a friendly, professional manner
  • Open the facility and ensure readiness for daily operations
  • Process membership check-ins, registrations, and payments accurately
  • Maintain knowledge of YMCA programs, services, and policies
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support membership engagement and sales
  • Assist with membership changes and general inquiries
  • Support facility cleanliness and safety procedures

Salary & Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $17.50 to $19.00 per hour, based on experience.
Various shifts are currently available on weekday evenings and weekends.
Member Service staff are required to be scheduled for at least two shifts per week. These must include at least one weekend shift, but may include two weekend shifts if needed and desired. Staff may have the opportunity to work up to 25 hours per week, based on available shifts.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to handle financial transactions
  • Previous customer service, hospitality, sales, or related experience
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently in the early morning hours.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer service or front desk experience preferred.
  • Must be able to travel between both YMCA branches.
  • CPR/AED certification (training provided if not currently certified).
  • Are 18 years or older
