Job description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Home Visitor position is responsible for providing culturally sensitive home visiting services outlined in the Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) Program Standards manual to pregnant women and families with children up to the age of five (5). Home Visiting services include but are not limited to supporting the parent/child relationship, understanding the attachment relationship, trauma-informed care and prenatal and child development (physical, social, emotional and cognitive) within the culture of the family, understanding each child's specific needs, making the appropriate referrals to support the family's well-being and connecting families to formal and informal community resources.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
  • Three (3) years experience in early childhood and/or social work experience required
Education:
  • Certifications in early childhood, social work, community health work or nursing
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HSE) required.
  • Multicultural understanding and sensitivity required
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date records and correspondence according to Program Standards required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required
  • Excellent self-awareness skills in order to provide non-judgmental, unbiased supportive services to families
  • Computer skills proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as date entry required
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license
  • Knowledge of and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
