Job Summary
St. Augustine Foot, Ankle & Vein is seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and highly organized Medical Scribe to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong typing skills, experience documenting patient encounters in an Electronic Health Record (EHR), and a working knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical terminology.
While prior podiatry experience is not required, candidates with experience in any medical specialty are encouraged to apply. We provide comprehensive training in podiatric conditions, procedures, and specialty-specific documentation.
This position's primary responsibility is real-time medical documentation and provider support during patient visits. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment and willing to assist with basic Medical Assistant duties when needed to support patient flow and team operations.

Responsibilities
Medical Scribe Duties (Primary Role)
- Accurately document patient encounters in real time within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Record patient histories, physical examination findings, assessments, treatment plans, procedures, and follow-up instructions as dictated by the provider.
- Ensure medical records are complete, accurate, and compliant with documentation standards.
- Assist with ICD-10 diagnosis coding and ensure proper documentation supports coding requirements.
- Review charts for completeness and identify missing information prior to provider sign-off.
- Enter imaging and prescription orders, referrals, and other documentation under provider direction in accordance with clinic policies.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Work closely with the provider to improve documentation efficiency and patient flow.
- Tech-savvy with experience using AI tools to streamline daily tasks, improve accuracy, and increase productivity. Demonstrates curiosity and enthusiasm for learning emerging AI applications in healthcare.

Clinical Support Duties (As Needed)
- Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and other clinical tasks.
- Measure patients for diabetic shoes and assist with fittings.
- Scan patients for custom orthotics and assist with orthotic dispensing when needed.
- Support the Back Office Supervisor and clinical team as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting across departments during busy periods.

Qualifications
Preferred
- Previous Medical Scribe experience preferred.
- Experience working in a specialty medical practice.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical documentation standards.
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW).
- Experience with ICD-10 coding in any medical specialty.
- Medical Assistant experience.
- Familiarity with podiatry, wound care, orthopedics, vascular medicine, or related specialties.
