Job description

Certified Medical Assistant – Primary Care

We are seeking a dependable, professional, and motivated Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our busy Primary Care/Family Medicine practice. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing both clinical and front-office dutiesand will work closely with physicians and other staff to provide efficient, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, review medications, and document medical history
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Lab draw
  • Administer IM and subcutaneous injections and vaccines as directed by the physician
  • Assist physicians with in-office procedures
  • Perform EKGs, point-of-care testing, and other basic clinical testing
  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection
  • Handle medication refill requests and pharmacy communications
  • Assist with prior authorizations as needed
  • Communicate test results and physician instructions to patients
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in the EMR
  • Clean, stock, and prepare examination and procedure rooms
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient messages
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Check patients in and out
  • Verify insurance information and collect copays/balances
  • Assist with referrals, medical records, and other administrative tasks
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
  • Work collaboratively with physicians and other team members to keep patient flow efficient
  • Perform other clinical and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required
  • Prior experience in a Primary Care, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine office preferred
  • Experience with injections, vaccinations, EKGs, and venipuncture preferred
  • Comfortable performing both clinical and front-desk responsibilities
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a busy medical office
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Professional and compassionate when interacting with patients
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small practice team

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, is willing to help wherever needed, and understands that working in a private primary care practice requires teamwork and flexibility. The successful candidate should be comfortable transitioning between patient care, procedures, phone calls, scheduling, and other office responsibilities throughout the day.
