Overview:
The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Department Overview:
4 West is a 24-bed medical-surgical unit with a specialized focus in cardiac care. In addition to caring for cardiac patients, the unit provides comprehensive care to a diverse medical-surgical population with a wide range of diagnoses, including, but not limited to, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, sepsis, acute and chronic kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders, and various metabolic complications.
The unit offers an exceptional practice environment for both experienced Registered Nurses seeking a collaborative team with a strong clinical foundation and new graduate nurses who are eager to develop their skills and clinical expertise.
Patient care on 4 West is enhanced by a highly supportive, multidisciplinary team. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) assist with medication administration and bedside nursing care, while Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) support with ambulation, obtaining labs, activities of daily living (ADLs), and other essential patient care tasks assuring seamless and efficient care delivery.
Dedicated Unit Coordinators and experienced nurse preceptors further strengthen the team by fostering a structured, supportive, and nurturing learning environment. This makes 4 West an ideal setting for professional growth, skill development, and long-term career advancement for those committed to excellence in nursing practice.

New Grad RNs are Welcome to Apply!
This unit welcomes new graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this specialty. The 11-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.

Qualifications:
Education
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program

Certification/Licensure
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
