Job description

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conducts regular interior and exterior patrols to ensure the safety and security of the property. Inspects exit doors, offices, storerooms, and departments for security and the absence of fire or other hazards. Monitors and reports suspicious activity on hospital property and surrounding area.
  • Greeter / May be assigned to a stationary post location within the facility to offer a visible deterrent in a designated area for visitor control.
  • Assists patients and visitors by providing information and directions in the facility.
  • Performs routine lost and found pick-ups as needed.
  • Performs foot patrol of various parking lots ensuring adherence to parking policy. May assist in the coordination and monitoring of Contracted Security, specific to parking.
  • Facilitates the issuance of police citations and/or towing services as needed. Issues necessary parking violations notices as required. Maintains database of violations on a 12-month sliding scale.
  • Ensures traffic control, monitors conduct of visitors on premises and reports safety hazards and security vulnerabilities to LPS Sergeant.
  • In extreme cases of need, the security aide may be required to perform a medical standby in cases that do not rise to the level of needing a security officer.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.


Education Required:

  • High School Graduate.


Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in public contact.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning while maintaining a courteous and tactful demeanor in dealing with employees, visitors and patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including off-shifts, weekends, and holidays, as needed.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to walk and stand 90% of the shift.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to seasonal climate and appropriately dress for conditions.
  • Must have functional use of speech, vision, and hearing along with the manual dexterity to write parking citations, take notes, etc., while standing or walking.
  • Potential for exposure to vehicle fumes on occasion.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
