Job description

Law Firm is seeking a Medical Malpractice Litigation Defense Attorney to join a collaborative, team-oriented environment comprising attorneys and paralegals. This role offers an excellent opportunity for attorneys with litigation experience aiming to advance their careers by taking on substantive defense litigation responsibilities, as well as for new attorneys interested in beginning a career in complex medical malpractice defense litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals to evaluate and resolve assigned matters
  • Investigate claims with clients and non-party witnesses to address discovery efficiently
  • Analyze medical causation independently and interact with medical professionals
  • Identify and retain suitable medical experts for consultation
  • Conduct and defend depositions of parties and non-parties
  • Apply CPLR discovery rules to oversee and enforce party compliance
  • Lead settlement negotiations and participate in ADR/mediation conferences
  • Handle court appearances and conferences regularly
  • Drive claim resolution goals and execute strategic resolution plans

Required Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in New York State, or have passed the New York State Bar Examination and awaiting admission
  • Strong analytical and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience producing professional written work product including substantive motion practice
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based litigation approach
