Responsible for sustaining organizational adherence to Epic and the requirements for clinical documentation. Evaluates compliance, identifies gaps, areas of improvement, and leads teams to identify process changes necessary to improve opportunities identified. Coordinates implementation and maintenance of designated projects for clinical informatics. Leads and coordinates upgrade implementation, optimization of documentation for clinical services including Nursing and Respiratory therapy. Collaborates with and assists clinical caregivers at all levels conducting performance improvement activities, sustaining a culture of excellence, and maintaining a bedside driven nursing leadership practice environment. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 3-5 years progressively more responsible experience in the health care field. required.
Master degree with focus preferred in Informatics or Nursing preferred.
Certification in specialty strongly preferred (must be in good standing and valid in the state of Michigan).
Working knowledge of nursing standards and data analyses.
Advanced word processing and spreadsheet skills required (Microsoft Word & Excel).
Skill set and detailed understanding of nursing electronic documentation and clinical processes.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both in writing and verbally.
Ability to interact with all levels in healthcare environment including executives, leaders, staff, and physicians.
Proven ability to negotiate agreement and acceptance of change with complex and difficult situations.
Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
Serves as a liaison for Medical Informatics with clinical staff.
Serves as a liaison with IT and clinical staff.
Works collaboratively with nursing staff and leadership, physicians, and executives.
o Ensures clinical staff competency for the use of clinical applications.
Assists in the evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care.
Serves as a resource to staff, management and physicians regarding Nursing Informatics..
Serves as the Nursing Administrative liaison to IT to facilitate coordination of services and accurate optimization of documentation.
Promotes optimum use of available technology and applications.
Evaluates and provides recommendations for use of technology to improve patient safety, optimize professional clinical practice and optimize departmental goals
Supervises Clinical Informatics.
Works closely with hospital PI for appropriate metric development, database use
Ensures accuracy of data and reports
Works collaboratively with OI/PI to ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance.
Inputs into policy and procedures to ensure integration with Evidence Based Practices (EBP) and documentation process
Communicates professionally and with diplomacy up and down the chain of command for shared knowledge and common vision toward quality improvements.
Coordinates and leads multidisciplinary teams as assigned to accomplish established goals.
Participates in committees as assigned, functioning as a nursing and Respiratory representative and liaison.
Chairs the System Nursing Informatics committee, and participates on the Medical Informatics committee as role assigned.
Participates and leader development and testing of the application functions.
Coordinates and participates in upgrades and conversions.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure documentation compliance.
Identifies educational needs and works collaboratively with nursing education as needed to provide necessary education
Coordinates the clinical informatics team to provide necessary at the elbow support for clinical teams as identified.
