Title: Image Prep Rep/Image Prep Tech
Unit: Medical Imaging
Hours: Day Shift
Status: Full Time
Facility: MVH
Position Summary:
This position is working with the radiologists to ensure radiology images are reviewed and interpreted in a timely manner. This position is responsible for having a working knowledge of the PACS system, the EPIC system, and the ability to assist providers to contact radiologists regarding images and vice-versa. The incumbent assists in training of new staff members, including radiologists, in the workflow of the department. This position reports to the Administrative Manager and works closely with technologists in Medical Imaging, as well as radiologists and other medical staff. The incumbent prioritizes images to be read, receives call reports, and report the interpretations of the call reports back to the appropriate providers. The incumbent would also be responsible for loading images from outside facilities as well as distributing Premier images to outside facilities. This position requires call and could require coverage of 2nd, 3rd, weekend, and/or holiday shifts all of which the incumbent would be the only person in the Image Service Center during those shifts. Individual complies with established policies, procedures, and standards regarding quality, customer satisfaction, positive work environment, and financial stewardship. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience managing customer service issues and resolving them or escalating to appropriate level through the chain of command.
Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to instruct/train customers with a wide base of knowledge range (physicians to co-workers) in PACS applications as well as system upgrades.
Demonstrated outstanding customer service skills required.
Attention to detail and follow-through with various hospital departments, internal and external physician offices and patients.
Ability to recognize operational need of the department/customer, respond appropriately, and assist as needed.
Demonstrates ability to respond to the needs of physicians and assist with PACS image issues.
Ability to adjust to multiple workflows related to obtaining and processing images from multi-site locations.
Education:
Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED

Experience:
Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
Preferred experience: 3-5 years of office/computer software
Other experience requirements: Successful completion of a Medical Terminology course
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of anatomy necessary for identifying appropriate relevant prior images for comparison.
Demonstrate ability to work independently requiring little supervision.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and listening skills required.
Demonstrated customer service skills when responding to requests from radiologists and physician customers via telephone, facsimile, or email.
Must exhibit strong oral skills and able to interact with physicians and employees from all levels of the organization.
Has the ability to utilize complex integrated Radiology Information and PACS systems for processing information and for archiving and retrieving images and reports as well as train new staff members in their use and application in the administrative environment.
Upon request, burns images to CD for distribution to physician offices, hospital departments, or other institutions.
Upon request fax reports to physician offices or other institutions.
Responds to requests on demand.
Ability to anticipate the needs of medical staff and proactively meet those needs.
