Job description

Chief Medical Officer Mount Auburn Hospital/Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians

The Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), Mount Auburn Hospital/Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO). An academic appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS) will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements in addition to teaching activities.

Mount Auburn Hospital (MAH), a 217-bed Harvard Medical School-affiliated teaching hospital and member of Beth Israel Lahey Health, seeks an accomplished physician executive to serve as its next Chief Medical Officer. Mount Auburn Hospital and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians have collaborated to create a model that combines HMFP's expertise in physician employment, with MAH's strong local culture, ensuring seamless day-to-day management, while enhancing clinical programs and maintaining exceptional patient care. Through this partnership, physicians are employed by HMFP, and care for patients at MAH, preserving the hospital's commitment to patient-centric care and operational continuity.

Reporting to the President of Mount Auburn Hospital, the CMO serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and provides strategic leadership for clinical quality, patient safety, physician engagement, medical staff affairs, care coordination, and operational excellence. The CMO partners closely with hospital leadership, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP), and Beth Israel Lahey Health to advance clinical integration, strengthen physician alignment, and support Mount Auburn Hospital's academic and community mission.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished physician leader with experience in an academic medical center or teaching hospital, a demonstrated record of executive leadership, and a commitment to excellence in patient care, medical education, and physician leadership. The CMO will maintain an active clinical practice in their specialty at Mount Auburn Hospital as a member of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians.

Candidates must possess an MD or DO, be board certified, eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts, and qualify for appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School.

Pay Range:

$412,600.00 USD - $473,400.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for additional compensation, which may include performance-based incentive bonuses.
