The Coalition consists of 25 colleges and universities across North Carolina that offer undergraduate and/or graduate social work programs, and these institutions, through The Workforce is Here, aim to build a pipeline of applicants into NC social work programs to strengthen our state's social work workforce and meet the demand for social workers in North Carolina Critical service domains include child and family services; mental and behavioral health; health, aging and caregiving; intellectual and developmental disabilities; and service to justice system involved individuals.
The mission of the School of Social Work is to advance equity, transform systems, and improve lives. The School's curriculum supports the mission and recognizes the uniqueness of the region served, including concerns for disadvantaged, vulnerable, and oppressed individuals, families, and communities. Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues. The School works to become the leading school of social work for impact - generating knowledge with powerful and positive consequences.
The School of Social Work offers M.S.W. and Ph.D. degrees. Dual degrees are offered in Law, Public Health, Public Administration, and Divinity (with Duke University). The faculty members of the School of Social Work have strong collaborative relationships with many campus units such as the Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Law, Government, Education, and the Department of City and Regional Planning as well as University Centers and Institutes such as the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, the Carolina Population Center, the Center for Developmental Sciences, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, and the Institute on Aging. We also maintain dynamic relationships with community agencies, state and federal government, and research groups in the Research Triangle Park and across the U.S.

The Secondary Education Program Liaison will report to the Secondary Education Program Manager and will assist with the development, launch and implementation of the Pre-BSW certificate with high school students across the state of NC. The Program Liaison will provide assistance in the following areas:
* Recruiting student participants
* Conducting orientation/informational sessions for prospective students and their families
* Processing student applications
* Communicating with students and their families throughout the duration of their cohort implementation
* Planning and facilitating in-person and hybrid learning experiences that extend student knowledge and exposure to social work-related career areas and CSWE accredited programs within the NC Social Work Workforce Development Coalition.
* Collecting high school program metrics and data that will be used to inform PSLP program evaluation reports and outcomes.
This position will be located in Chapel Hill, NC and will require up to 25% travel to in-state NC schools and universities. Additional travel may include participation in national conference presentations. This position is considered time-limited with guaranteed funding through June 30, 2027 with possibility of ongoing renewal.
* Experience involving NC high schools and/or youth-serving organizations that serve adolescent populations.
* Experience planning and facilitating learning events, conferences, or other large in-person gatherings.
* Proficiency in online learning platforms and digital tools for virtual program delivery (e.g. Zoom, Canvas, etc).
* Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
* Ability to manage workload both independently and collaboratively without immediate or direct supervision.
* Ability to think critically and use conflict resolution skills to solve complex logistical problems involving a variety of populations (e.g. schools, community-based nonprofits, university).
* Approachable, calm style encourages open communication across essential partners.
* Experience using data to evaluate program effectiveness.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively with workforce populations, stakeholders and settings.
