Job description

Blau & Hynson, PLLC is a boutique criminal-defense practice in Raleigh, NC that specializes in appellate and post-conviction litigation in North Carolina state and federal courts. We are looking to hire a full-time legal assistant to provide support to 3 attorneys. You can learn more about the practice at http://www.blauhynson.law.


Responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to: office administration; reception and client communications; new client intake; billing and account management; scheduling and docket management; file maintenance; electronic court filings; coordination with courts and case partners; proofreading and editing; and drafting basic motions and court filings.


The ideal candidate with have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Formal paralegal training and notary certification are considered but not required. Two years of experience in state and federal criminal law and familiarity with systems such as NC Portal, NC File & Serve, NC appellate filing, PACER, CM/ECF and eVoucher is preferred. Candidates with experience in criminal appeals and post-conviction work will be given high priority.


Starting salary range $50,000 - $55,000 depending on experience. Benefits include PTO and medical leave, parental leave, QSEHRA health-benefit plan, and employer-match retirement plan. We are located in a large, spacious office in a historic house in downtown Raleigh with free on-site parking.
