Job description

Aptar is seeking a Process Technician Lead based in Mukwonago, WI this position will be fully onsite.  This role provides advanced technical support and shift-level leadership for high-speed, high-cavitation injection molding operations within a closures manufacturing environment.

This role combines expert-level process troubleshooting with structured coaching, training accountability, and shift-level process stability ownership. The Process Technician Lead supports Process Technician I-III development, drives process discipline, and partners with Process Tech Supervisor, Engineering and Production to ensure standard process are being followed and improving uptime, scrap performance, and system consistency.

This is not solely an advanced individual contributor role. It includes formal mentorship, technical direction, and shift-level accountability for process standards

As a Process Technician Lead, You Will:

  • Lead troubleshooting of complex molding process instability, including fill imbalance, short shots, flash, splay, burn, dimensional drift, and cosmetic defects.
  • Stabilize high-cavitation molds through structured analysis of the four plastic variables (heat, pressure, time, and distance).
  • Oversee startup validation and ensure documented process windows are followed.
  • Escalate chronic instability to Process Engineering with structured diagnostic documentation.
  • Lead structured root cause analysis (RCA) events related to process performance.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5-8 years of injection molding process experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment (closures experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated mastery of mold setup, startup, and process troubleshooting.
  • Advanced understanding of plastic material behavior and processing conditions.
  • Proven ability to diagnose multi-variable process instability.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching technical employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, process sheets, and basic schematics.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • RJG Master Molder or equivalent scientific molding training.
  • Experience in high-cavitation closures manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting multi-shift operations.
  • Exposure to process validation or mold qualification activities.
