Job Summary:

The Assembly Department is responsible for the manual assembly and building of railroad tracks and turnouts using various heavy tools and equipment. This role involves precise measurement, heavy physical labor, and the operation of industrial machinery to ensure tracks are built to exact specifications.

Key Job Elements & Responsibilities
  • Manual Assembly: Manually assemble and build railroad tracks and turnouts using impact tools, grinders, and hand tools.

  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, drilling machines, finish grinders, and torque machines.

  • Precise Measurement: Utilize a tape measure to determine structural accuracy and consistently read basic blueprints/drawings.

  • Physical Labor: Use a swing sledgehammer and various hand tools for extended periods on a daily basis.

  • Safety & Quality: Maintain strict quality and production standards while keeping a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: High School diploma or GED required.

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience required.

  • Measurement Skills: Must be able to read a measuring tape and measure accurately down to the 32nd of an inch.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to read basic blueprints and assembly drawings.

  • Physical & Environmental Fit: Must be willing and able to perform heavy physical labor and work outside in various weather climates.

  • Attendance & Flexibility: Excellent attendance is a strict requirement. Must be available to work Monday–Friday with overtime as necessary.
