Job description

Overview
Responsible for assisting the radiologic technologist during the diagnostic imaging process. Ensures that patients are comfortable and at ease by answering questions and preparing patients for imaging examinations and/or procedures. Communicates with other members of the health care team to coordinate patient care. Safely transports patients to and from other departments.
Responsibilities
Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner, addresses inquires and/or directs to the appropriate personnel.
Welcomes patients in for their scheduled appointments, ensuring they are fully prepared for the exam/procedure they are having. Notifies technologist of patients arrival in a timely manner.
Orders walk-in X-rays and STAT add-on exams.
Safely transports patients to and from the department adhering to SVH policies. Coordinates with other hospital departments to accurately transport patients in a timely manner.
Maintains cleanliness of department transportation equipment i.e. gurneys, sliding boards, and wheelchairs per infection control standards, ensures that that oxygen tanks are kept full.
Performs a variety of clerical functions such as updating worksheets and screening forms, blocking the schedule for equipment maintenance, and stocks and replenishes supplies.
Monitors and follows up with voicemails through out the day, coordinates phone calls from MDs to Radiologist.
Working closely with Patient Access and Patient Accounting ensures that insurance authorizations are completed; communicates with Patient Access and Patient Accounting when a CPT code change occurs for proper billing.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 1-2 years of previous related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
License or Certification: Current BLS
Requred Skills or Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Medical terminology and procedures, Strong interpersonal skills, Basic office procedures and ability to work on personal computer. Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities and workflow while multi-tasking. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from various backgrounds; understand and respond to a diverse population. Bilingual preferred.

Actual compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
