Fire Alarm Apprentice

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for a Fire Alarm Apprentice in our Tampa branch to work in the surrounding areas. The Fire Alarm Apprentice is responsible for providing assistance to Alarm Technicians on a daily basis. He/she ensures that proper work is conducted in a timely and accurate manner, assists with alarm work, and follows all codes and WAFS standards. This is a fast paced position requiring the ability to climb ladders frequently, use industry tools, work overhead frequently, lift up to 60 pounds, reach into the air, push, pull, bend, climb, and walk regularly. The Alarm Apprentice reports to the Service & Alarms Superintendent/Manager and works under the guidance of the Alarm Technician on jobsites.  

Day to Day:

  • Ability to work closely with the Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and install fire alarm systems accurately, on schedule, and within budget. 
  • Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
  • Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons, including summer months.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing. Lifting will include up to 70 pounds.

What are the Qualifications for this position?

  • Electrical Experience Required 
  • Construction experience is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools
  • Travel within the local community is required
  • Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites
  • Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons, including summer months
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and pre-employment background check screening, including 10 years of employment verification, is required to be hired at Wayne Automatic
