A Medical Coding Apprentice is an entry-level professional who is learning to assign standardized codes to medical diagnoses and procedures for billing and record-keeping purposes. They typically work under the supervision of experienced medical coders while gaining practical experience and often preparing for certification exams. Apprentices are responsible for accurately translating healthcare services into universal codes, ensuring proper insurance reimbursement and compliance with regulations. This role is ideal for individuals starting a career in medical coding and seeking hands-on training in a healthcare setting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a medical coding apprentice, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Medical Coding Apprentice, you need a solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems, often supported by a relevant certification such as CPC-A or CCA. Familiarity with coding software like ICD-10-CM, CPT, and EHR systems is typically required. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong organizational skills are vital soft skills for accuracy and efficiency. These abilities are crucial for ensuring correct billing, compliance, and the smooth operation of healthcare revenue cycles.

What types of support or mentorship can a medical coding apprentice expect during their training period?

Lead HVAC Installer

Absolute Air Services \u007C Portland, CT

A great Lead HVAC Installer does more than install equipment. They take ownership of the job, solve challenges in the field, develop the people working beside them, and leave every homeowner confident that the work was done right.

At Absolute Air Services, we’re looking for an experienced Lead HVAC Installer who takes pride in exceptional craftsmanship and wants to work for a company that recognizes the value of skilled tradespeople. You’ll lead residential installation projects from start to finish, guide apprentices and helpers, and have the support needed to complete quality work without cutting corners.

This is an opportunity to bring your expertise to a growing home services company where your experience will have a visible impact. You’ll be trusted to make sound decisions in the field, uphold our installation standards, and help shape the next generation of HVAC professionals.

If you’re ready for steady, year-round work, strong operational support, and a role where your leadership and technical ability are genuinely valued, we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead residential HVAC installations from jobsite arrival through final completion.

  • Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, thermostats, and indoor air quality equipment.

  • Complete required ductwork, refrigerant piping, drainage, venting, gas piping, wiring, and system connections.

  • Direct and train apprentices and installation helpers while maintaining a safe, professional jobsite.

  • Perform equipment startups, charging, airflow verification, testing, and commissioning.

  • Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure all work meets applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and company standards.

  • Maintain accurate job documentation and communicate equipment, material, or scope concerns promptly.

  • Protect customers’ homes and explain system operation, maintenance, and warranty information upon completion.

  • Coordinate with sales, dispatch, warehouse, service, and management teams to complete installations efficiently.

  • Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory.

What We’re Looking For
  • An active Connecticut S-1, S-2, D-1, D-2, B-1, or B-2 license is required.

  • Previous experience leading residential HVAC replacement and installation projects.

  • Ability to independently complete HVAC installations from start to finish.

  • Strong knowledge of residential HVAC equipment, ductwork, refrigeration, airflow, venting, and system commissioning.

  • Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and jobsite problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to train and direct apprentices or installation helpers.

  • Commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and code compliance.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • EPA Universal Certification required.

  • Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and field service software.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to perform physical work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and outdoor conditions.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.

  • Performance-based earning opportunities.

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with Company Match

  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays

  • Company-Provided Vehicle

  • Company Phone or Tablet

  • Uniforms Provided

  • Ongoing Paid Technical and Leadership Training

  • Year-Round Work

  • Career Advancement Opportunities

  • Supportive, Team-Oriented Work Environment

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means taking ownership of every installation, delivering clean and dependable workmanship, and ensuring systems operate correctly before leaving the customer’s home. You’ll set the standard for the installation team, develop less-experienced employees, and help Absolute Air Services earn lasting customer trust through quality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
