REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR OUR INSURANCE VERIFICATION SPECIALIST/MEDICAL BILLER:
  • Minimum three (3) years of medical billing experience (Required)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in ambulance billing or related field of medicine (Preferred)
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift Monday-Friday (Required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Biller is expected to keep a clean and organized work area so that they may bill in an efficient manner.
  • The Biller’s primary function is to produce clean claims that can be forwarded to perspective insurance companies for the purpose of receiving optimum reimbursement for services provided by Advantage Ambulance and/or its subcontractors.
  • The ability to bill claims in an efficient manner which is both in compliance with federal/state regulations and compliant with Advantage Ambulance policies and procedures.
  • The extrication of critical information from the patient file that will assist Account Services in receiving compensation for the services provided by Advantage and/or its subcontractors.
  • Acknowledgement of all necessary signatures as well as PCS forms.
  • Communication with co-workers’ issues with a particular payer or customer/client.
  • Communication with the department supervisor/director about new issues or new information obtained during the course of doing business.  
  • Communicating to field personnel when their documentation (ePCR) is missing information, needs clarification, or needs correction.  If a crew member’s documentation consistently does not meet Advantage’s Documentation Standards and/or they fail to respond in a timely manner back the billing department they are to notify the Account Services Coordinator and Supervisor. 
 
MEDICAL BILLING SKILLS:
  • Proven work experience as a Medical Biller
  • Proficiency with computers including use of the internet, cloud based platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
