Job description

Description:Job Purpose

Support providers in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care by managing clinical workflows, assisting with patient visits, and ensuring accurate and complete documentation throughout the patient encounter.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Support

· Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints to ensure providers have accurate and complete information for each visit

· Prepare exam rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care and procedures

· Assist providers during examinations and in-office procedures, ensuring efficiency and patient comfort throughout the visit

· Discharge patients in providing patient education, referral information, take-home and follow-up instructions, procedural guidance, etc.

· Perform diagnostic testing (i.e. Pillcam, Anorectal Manometry, FibroScan)

· Assist with phlebotomy, as needed, and blood draws for specialized labs

· Assist with obtaining prior authorizations

· Monitor and manage prescription refill requests

· Assist, as needed, with scheduling procedures and post-op appointments


Patient Flow Management

· Coordinate patient movement throughout the clinic to ensure timely visits and minimize delays in provider schedules

· Communicate any delays or changes in schedule to patients and staff in a professional and timely manner

· Manage and coordinate with pharmaceutical representatives supply of samples and specialized lab kits


Documentation and EMR Management

· Accurately document patient information, provider orders, and visit details within the electronic medical record system

· Enter laboratory, imaging, and referral orders as directed by providers and ensure completeness of patient charts

· Assist providers with documentation


Patient Communication

· Provide patients with clear instructions regarding follow-up care, medications, and next steps in their treatment plan

· Respond to patient inquiries and route clinical or administrative questions to the appropriate team members

· Process medical record requests

Requirements:Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience

· Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting

· Basic clinical skills and understanding of medical terminology

· Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems


Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in gastroenterology or specialty care setting

· Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)

· Experience assisting with in-office procedures
