Job description

The Medical Assistant Certified provides clinical and clerical support such as patient rooming in addition to assistance with medical procedures, cleaning of equipment, chart preparation, obtaining referral notes, images and lab results prior to patient visits.
Essential Functions
  • Patient Intake process: interview patients, measure vital signs; including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
  • Interview patient and record in template the Subjective and Objective information for visit
  • Update family, surgical, social, and past medical history in patient's chart
  • Prepare and administer injections and immunizations' as prescribed by provider
  • Set up exam room for all procedures and assist the provider as needed
  • Ensure all related reports, labs, and information is available in patients' medical records prior to their appointment
  • Process all telephone and patient portal messages, and provide feedback and answers to the patient, physician, and or pharmacy
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, immunizations, expired medications and or immunizations, and oxygen)
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required
  • Perform required venipuncture for all laboratory tests ordered by provider and ensure that they are ordered and processed correct
  • Complete all orders and tasks submitted by provider and ensure that all documentation is complete
  • Performs EKG's as per provider orders
  • Complete all clinical documentation accurately and on time
  • Maintain compliance with all annual online courses and classroom courses
  • Completes all required CEU's for certification and or licensing
  • Refilling of patient medications
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED

Certification
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Work Experience
  • Three (3) months experience in a clinical setting required
