Department: 6th Floor - Med/Surg
Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192
Schedule: Full-Time (36 Hours/Week), Every other weekend and holiday rotation
Shift: Day Shift 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

As aNurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.
About Our Unit:
Our 48-bed Medical Surgical Unit cares for patients through many different phases of their healthcare journey. You'll work alongside a skilled and compassionate team supporting patients with a wide range of needs - from post-surgical recovery to treatment for acute infectious diseases requiring IV antibiotics, to management of chronic conditions during flare-ups. We also provide dignified, compassionate care for patients and families during end-of-life support.
What You'll Do:
Your day-to-day impact includes:
  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

Education/Experience Required:
To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
  • Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred

Certifications/Licensures Required:
  • Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
