Role Summary
The Medical Assistant/Float supports providers in a clinic setting by helping deliver safe, efficient patient care and by serving as a clear communication link among the provider, patients, families, and office staff. This role exists to keep visits organized, documentation accurate, and care plans understood across the team.
Key responsibilities include assisting with direct patient care, coordinating communication related to the provider-defined plan of care, and completing timely, accurate clinical documentation in the EMR/EHR using correct medical terminology, spelling, and grammar.
Required qualifications/skills:
- LPN or Medical Assistant certification preferred
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS/CPR certification with annual recertification
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology and age-appropriate growth/development principles
- Strong verbal/written communication, analytical/problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, printer, fax, copier, telephone)

A Typical Shift
You'll work a full-time day shift, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM-5:00 PM), rotating as needed to support different clinic areas. The day moves between preparing for scheduled visits, staying responsive to patient flow, and keeping information current in the record so the care team stays aligned. You'll interact with patients across age groups, help maintain an orderly clinic environment, and communicate updates with providers and front-office colleagues to keep appointments running smoothly through close of business.
