Position Summary
Improve Health Clinics (IHC) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and service-oriented Medical Assistant to support the daily operations of an employer-sponsored health clinic serving only Matrix Design Group employees and their covered dependents.
Working under the direction of the clinic's APRN, the Medical Assistant plays a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience by preparing patients for examinations, assisting with clinical procedures, coordinating administrative activities, and promoting efficient clinic operations. Because the clinic serves a defined employee population, the Medical Assistant is expected to build trusting, long-term relationships while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service.
This position requires a self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and is committed to improving the health and well-being of Matrix Design Group employees and their families.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and provide a professional, friendly experience from arrival through checkout.
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for provider evaluation.
- Obtain and accurately document:
- Vital signs
- Height and weight
- Medical history updates
- Current medications
- Allergies
- Chief complaint
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain appropriate supplies.
- Assist the APRN during examinations and minor procedures.
- Perform point-of-care testing.
- Collect laboratory specimens and prepare them for transport.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as delegated and permitted by state law.
- Perform EKGs, spirometry, hearing tests, vision screening, and other diagnostic testing as appropriate.
- Conduct medication inventory and maintain proper storage of medications and vaccines.
- Maintain infection control and sterilization procedures.
- Clean and prepare patient care areas throughout the day.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Answer clinic telephone calls and respond appropriately.
- Register patients and verify eligibility.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR).
- Process referrals, laboratory orders, and diagnostic testing.
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and patient communications.
- Monitor and replenish clinic supplies.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering.
- Prepare daily clinic reports as requested.
Population Health & Preventive Care
- Support employee wellness initiatives.
- Assist with preventive health screenings.
- Help coordinate annual wellness visits.
- Contact patients regarding overdue preventive services.
- Reinforce provider education and treatment plans.
- Encourage medication compliance and healthy lifestyle practices.
Customer Service Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant serves as an ambassador for Improve Health Clinics and Matrix Design Group by:
- Creating a welcoming environment for every patient.

- Protecting patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintaining positive working relationships with employees, dependents, and coworkers.
- Helping resolve patient concerns in a courteous and timely manner.

Compliance Responsibilities
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance.
- Follow OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standards.
- Adhere to all Improve Health Clinics policies and procedures.
- Maintain current certifications and competencies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Report safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred or required according to state regulations.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Two or more years of experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Primary care
- Family medicine
- Occupational health
- Employer-sponsored health clinics
- Experience performing laboratory testing and immunizations.
- Experience working independently in a small clinic environment.
