The Position
Video and Photo Intern
(Administrative Intern)
Are you passionate about social media, marketing, videography and photography? Are you eager to make an impact in your community? The City of Ontario has an excellent part-time opportunity for a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual interested in gaining valuable experience as a Video and Photo Intern. This position will be responsible for capturing and producing visual content that promotes the department's activities, services, and community engagement efforts. This includes assisting with various photo and video projects of activities, programs, community outreach, and public events, as well as planning, developing, and executing creative social media and multimedia content.
The following items are required for consideration:
  • Completion of application and supplemental questions.
  • Minimum of three (3) different work samples (photos, videos, etc.) you have captured/produced. A link to your portfolio website will also suffice.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in social media, marketing, photography and videography, demonstrate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro; exhibit excellent communication and collaboration skills; and have the ability to work in fast-paced, high-stress environments. Additionally, the successful candidate will embody the department's mission and vision as well as the qualities of a "Five Tool Player" - Leader, Thinker, Communicator, Operator and Public Servant - and the principles of the City's Customer Service Philosophy - Empathy, Respect, and Problem Solving.
The Video and Photo Intern is a paid, part-time/temporary position scheduled to work no more than 29 hours per week and is not eligible to participate in the City's health insurance or retirement plans.
NOTE: The Video and Photo Intern is a common classification used in a variety of City departments. This recruitment will result in an eligibility list to meet the current and future staffing needs of departments with openings in this classification.
There is one (1) current vacancy with the Ontario Police Department.

Background Investigation
Successful candidates appointed to the Ontario Police Department are subject to a satisfactory background investigation conducted by the Ontario Police Department. The background investigation will include the following: passing of a polygraph test and the successful completion of a post-offer medical exam (including drug screen). Candidates may be disqualified from further consideration during the background investigation for a variety of reasons including if they have: an excessive number of traffic citations and/or collisions; arrests and/or convictions; a history of illegal substance abuse; poor credit history (factors include bankruptcy, foreclosures, liens, repossessions, and recency); or thefts from a previous employer. Qualification Guidelines
Education
Equivalent to completion of two years of college with major course work in Marketing, Digital Media, Photography, Videography, Film Productions, Communications, or a closely related field.

Licenses
Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment are required.
Desirable
Previous experience in photography and/or videography, preferably in a public service or emergency response environment. Previous experience creating content for social media platforms. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or Final Cut Pro for photo and video editing.
Special Requirements
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or during emergency incidents, as needed.
