Role Overview:

The Director of Social & Influencer is responsible for leading and evolving Indie Consulting's Social & Influencer practice, shaping the vision, strategy, and growth of the department while ensuring exceptional client outcomes. This role oversees integrated social media, influencer marketing, creator partnerships, creator commerce, affiliate program management, and community-building initiatives across client engagements, helping brands build relevance, engagement, and business impact.

As a senior leader within the organization, the Director of Social & Influencer serves as a strategic advisor to clients and internal teams, guiding platform strategy, creator ecosystems, audience engagement, and emerging industry trends. This role is responsible for defining future-forward service offerings, including the future of influencer, social, and affiliate communities that connect community to conversion.


This is a builder role. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in social and influencer marketing with strong leadership, business acumen, and client partnership skills. They will lead and develop a high-performing team, influence senior stakeholders, and help shape the future of Indie's social and influencer offerings through innovation, thought leadership, and operational excellence.



Key Responsibilities:

Practice Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the development of social media, influencer marketing, and creator commerce strategies across multiple client accounts, ensuring alignment with brand and business objectives.
  • Lead the evolution of Indie's Social & Influencer practice, enhancing capabilities, processes, tools, and service offerings while shaping the future of creator commerce and affiliate communities
  • Monitor and evaluate social, cultural, creator, and technology trends to identify emerging opportunities and guide innovation for both clients and the agency.
  • Contribute to new business efforts, including pitch development, strategic recommendations, and thought leadership.

Influencer & Creator Commerce

  • Design and build Indie's creator commerce offering, including affiliate program architecture, TikTok expertise, ambassador and loyalty creator networks, and performance-based compensation models.ย 
  • Lead the development and execution of influencer and creator partnership strategies, including creator identification, partnership frameworks, campaign activation, and measurement across earned, paid, and affiliate-based models.
  • Develop and operationalize Indie's approach to nano- and micro-creator programs at scale - moving clients from campaign-based influencer models to always-on creator community programs.
  • Explore, test, and implement emerging platforms and tools - including TikTok Shop, affiliate management platforms, AI tools, and creator innovations - to improve performance, efficiency, and scalability for clients.

Social & Community

  • Oversee social content planning and channel strategy across organic, paid, influencer, and community channels, ensuring work is platform-native, culturally relevant, and strategically aligned.
  • Translate strategic insights, consumer behavior, cultural trends, and platform opportunities into impactful social and influencer programs that drive engagement, brand growth, and measurable business results.
  • Establish and uphold standards for social and influencer excellence, ensuring all recommendations are rooted in audience insights, platform expertise, and business objectives.

Talent & Client Leadership

  • Oversee and inspire the Social & Influencer team, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, mentorship, and development opportunities that elevate both client work and team capabilities.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Strategy, Creative, and Activation teams to develop integrated campaigns that align with client objectives and channel best practices.
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to clients, presenting recommendations, thought leadership, and performance insights with confidence and clarity.
  • Review and analyze campaign, content, and influencer performance, translating findings into actionable recommendations and optimization strategies.

Requirements


Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in social media, influencer marketing, digital marketing, or integrated communications, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience developing and leading social and influencer strategies for consumer brands.
  • Experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams while fostering collaboration across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of social platforms, creator ecosystems, influencer marketing, community engagement, and emerging digital trends.
  • Strong client leadership skills with experience presenting recommendations, influencing stakeholders, and building trusted partnerships.
  • Ability to translate consumer insights, cultural trends, and performance data into actionable strategies that drive measurable business results.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with CPG or other consumer-focused brands.
  • Experience building, scaling, or evolving social media and influencer marketing capabilities within an agency environment..
  • Experience leading large-scale integrated marketing programs that connect social, influencer, content, paid media, and broader brand initiatives.
  • Experience contributing to new business development, thought leadership, and agency growth initiatives.

Reporting Relationship: CEO

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Location: This role is based in or Raleigh, NC with a hybrid schedule of three in-office days (T-TH) and two remote days (M-F) each week.
