About The Team
The Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting team is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting, and for providing technical accounting guidance over complex transactions.
Team Mission: We drive operational excellence, enable financial transparency, and support Plaid's growth through accurate reporting, strong controls, and scalable, AI-enabled processes.
Role Description
As a SEC Reporting Manager, you will support SEC reporting readiness efforts, including assisting with annual audits and quarterly reviews. This role will have operational responsibilities, partnering cross-functionally to implement scalable processes and support accurate and timely accounting and reporting. This role will also support complex accounting areas and perform technical accounting research to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Responsibilities
  • Own the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable SEC reporting requirements, including S-1, 10-K, and 10-Q filings.
  • Lead close-to-reporting processes, ensuring financial statements and supporting schedules reconcile to source records, variances are understood and documented, and reporting processes are accurate and repeatable.
  • Support XBRL tagging and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, and Investor Relations to align reporting inputs, resolve issues, and improve end-to-end reporting processes and data flows.
  • Prepare or review journal entries and reconciliations related to stock-based compensation, leases, and other complex areas.
  • Evaluate the accounting impact of complex transactions through research to ensure accurate reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Serve as a key point of contact with external auditors, coordinating audit requests, preparing supporting documentation, and ensuring efficient completion of audit procedures.
  • Identify and implement process, system, and AI-enabled improvements that increase reporting accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years accounting experience, including 2+ years at a big 4 audit firm and progressive experience in SEC reporting at a public company.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and resolve complex technical accounting issues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
  • Proven track record of driving change, improving processes, implementing systems, and scaling operations.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a growth mindset.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting an S-1 filing and transition to public company reporting
  • Familiarity with public readiness or S-1 preparation.
  • Proactive mindset with a track record of driving thoughtful improvements using AI
  • NetSuite experience.
