Job Description

The Boiler Mechanic MD Grade 2 constructs, installs, maintains, and repairs stationary steam boilers, closed vats, and pressure vessels at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.

Key Job Functions

  • Read blueprints to assemble boiler tanks and connect pipe systems, valves, and gauges using welding equipment and hand tools.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance like cleaning vats, replacing defective tubes, lubricating moving parts, and ensuring proper water chemical balance.
  • Diagnose malfunctions, conduct pressure tests, and replace broken components to prevent leaks and inefficient operation.
  • Regulate equipment, adjust controls, and maintain logs of fuel usage and pressure levels to meet Stationary Engineers and Boiler Operators safety and environmental standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience of operating and maintaining boiler plants and at least 1 year operating and maintaining boiler plants as MD Grade 2 Stationary Engineer
  • Must be licensed as Maryland (MD) Stationary Engineer Grade 2 - 300 to 499 horsepower (in any building)
  • Must submit license(s) with resume
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, navigate tight confined spaces, work at heights, and withstand high-pressure, high-temperature environments
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to pass a government background check
