Pay Range: $62,000 - $88,000

Job Summary: The New Product Development Electromechanical Engineer will be a member of the team responsible for delivering bedding related products to market which have, or interface with products containing, electrical or mechanical components. Some of these products will include adjustable bed bases having metal bed frames, DC motors, control boxes, remote controls and power supplies, as well as other products containing electrical and mechanical hardware. This position will be responsible for ensuring the design, development and delivery of these products is done in accordance with the company's commitment to providing high quality, innovative, durable bedding solutions.

What You'll Do (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Develop new test methods to evaluate, measure, and document performance of designs versus performance targets.
  • Perform validation testing for adjustable bed bases and other bedding related products using established Test Plan criteria including lab testing and oversight of tests performed at other internal and external locations.
  • Perform system and component level testing on metal bed frames, linear actuators, massage motors, control boxes, and hand-held remote controls using lab equipment such as digital oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies, hand-held multimeters, load cells, impact testers, static weights, sound meters, etc.
  • Conduct failure analysis on electrical and mechanical bedding components that fail to meet product specifications during Test Plan execution and work with suppliers to provide corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain issues during product development on industry standard problem tracking systems such as Jira and/or Excel and work closely with suppliers to resolve all open issues.
  • Work with suppliers to generate and revise documentation necessary to support product development and launch including DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Product Specifications, Owner's Manuals, Regulatory Certificates and other printed materials.
  • Conduct regression testing on designs and software applications to ensure solutions compatibility across new and old features.
  • Regularly communicate test status within team and provide updates on technical issues during weekly calls with suppliers.
  • Attend product builds at suppliers during various stages of development to monitor and direct the manufacturing methods used to produce samples for testing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Legal on product claims development and support claims validation through testing and data analysis.
  • Support bedding concept development by creating prototypes for review with Marketing using off-the-shelf electrical or mechanical components as well as technology provided by new suppliers that could be integrated within current products.
  • Perform other technical duties as necessary to ensure the overall success of projects and business.

What You'll Need (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering role responsible for development and delivery of consumer products from concept through commercialization.
  • Experience with mechanical 2D/3D CAD packages a plus (SolidWorks, NX, etc.)
  • Experience with electrical CAD packages a plus (OrCad, Gerber, etc.)
