Department of Mechanical Engineering
Teaching Associate Pool

POSITION

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at CSU Fullerton invites applications for the position of Teaching Associate pool.

Well qualified graduate students are assigned Teaching Associate duties up to a maximum of 20 hours per week, and are assigned to work under the direct supervision of a faculty member in a course taught by the faculty member, including but not limited to courses in: 

  • EGME 102
  • EGME 205
  • EGME 306A
  • EGME 306B
  • EGME 476A
  • EGME 476B

This is a pool of teaching associates for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS REQUIRE ADMISSION AND GOOD STANDING IN THE MSME GRADUATE PROGRAM.

ASSIGNMENTS ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED COURSE ASSIGNMENTS ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

Teaching Associates may be assigned to course(s) in a maximum of 4 semesters.

REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
  • Coursework or prior teaching experience in the particular course topic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to those with significant experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment

COMPENSATION

All Teaching Associate appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  

Classification Range: $3,245 to $7,598 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,200

The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.
