Job description

We are excited to announce that we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer, or an Engineer with mid-level experience eager to step- up, to join our Buildings Engineering Division at our Richmond, VA office.
In this dynamic role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with clients to deliver exceptional HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs, alongside studies and technical support needed to meet project goals. You can expect a variety of projects that include fieldwork, design, and construction administration services.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented environment, exhibit leadership qualities to guide Junior Engineers, and possess the ability to foster new business opportunities.
Duties:
  • Collaborate closely with the mechanical engineering team to formulate concepts, strategies, construction documents, and engineering reports for renovations, additions, repairs, or new buildings.
  • Exhibit the capability to provide mechanical leadership on significant multi-discipline design initiatives encompassing HVAC, plumbing, process piping systems, and fire protection design.
  • Engage directly with clients in a technical capacity by conducting analyses of design alternatives, performing cost-benefit evaluations, and effectively communicating findings to support the owner's decision-making process.
  • Oversee the mechanical project team, where applicable, to ensure the achievement of project objectives and uphold the quality of deliverables.
  • Administer the financial performance and scheduling of mechanical projects.
  • Foster client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.
  • Engage in proposal writing to initiate new business opportunities.
  • Nurture and maintain client relationships.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience with a recognized architectural/engineering services firm is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Capability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A Virginia Professional Engineer's License is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
