Employer & Industry UsageManufacturers, automation companies, R&D firmsAutomotive, aerospace, manufacturing industries

Mechanical Engineer Labview focuses on designing and developing systems using LabVIEW software, often in automation and control projects. Mechanical Test Engineers primarily conduct testing and quality assurance of mechanical components. While both roles require mechanical engineering knowledge, Labview skills are essential for the Mechanical Engineer Labview, whereas testing expertise is key for the Mechanical Test Engineer.

How does a mechanical engineer specializing in LabVIEW typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during product development?

Mechanical Engineers with LabVIEW expertise often work closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and testing teams to design and implement automated test systems. They are responsible for creating LabVIEW programs that interface with hardware, collect data, and analyze system performance. Effective communication and collaboration are key, as they must ensure that the automated solutions meet the requirements of all stakeholders, facilitate troubleshooting, and support iterative product improvements throughout the development lifecycle.

What does a mechanical engineer with LabVIEW experience do?

A Mechanical Engineer with LabVIEW experience typically designs, develops, and tests mechanical systems using the LabVIEW software for automation, data acquisition, and control tasks. They create virtual instruments (VIs) to monitor and analyze data from sensors and devices, ensuring systems perform as intended. Their role often involves integrating hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, and optimizing test processes for efficiency and accuracy. This combination of mechanical engineering and LabVIEW expertise is especially valuable in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, and robotics.

YOUR MISSION

We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to support the design, planning, and execution of test campaigns for aerospace defense systems. You will work closely with engineers, program managers, and technical teams to ensure that systems meet performance, environmental, and mission-critical requirements. In this role, you will develop test plans, execute tests, collect data, analyze results, and ensure that the systems meet all specifications. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace technologies in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support or lead the planning, setup, execution, and documentation of component- and system-level tests across mechanical, electrical, and environmental domains
  • Develop, review, and maintain test procedures, plans, reports, and data packages aligned with engineering requirements and program needs
  • Execute test procedures, collect and validate test data, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and configuration control standards
  • Analyze test results, document anomalies, and support root cause investigations in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate with design, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure tests align with verification and validation requirements
  • Prepare for and participate in test readiness reviews, pre-test briefings, and post-test debriefs
  • Maintain organized test documentation to support internal, customer, and audit reviews
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies, tooling, automation, and data analysis practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Test Engineer I: Bachelor's degree with 0-1 years of academic or industry experience in a test, validation, or lab environment
  • Test Engineer II: Bachelor's degree with 2-4+ years of hands-on test engineering experience within the aerospace or defense industry, or a Master's degree with relevant experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in, or strong interest in developing expertise across, test planning, execution, and post-test analysis using modern tools and methods
  • Working knowledge of test equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and test scription or automation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes and safety protocols
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn test management and data analysis tools
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with environmental testing (vibration, thermal, shock, TVAC, EMI/EMC)
  • Strong technical writing and report generation skills
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense test standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
  • Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation, sensors, and DAQ systems
  • Experience with data analysis or automation tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, or Python
  • Exposure to failure investigations, root cause analysis, and non-conformance tracking
  • Active DoD clearance or ability to obtain one

COMPENSATION

  • Test Engineer I Base Salary: $70,000-$110,000
