We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Cost. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Mechanical Design Engineer's mission is to lead engineering projects aimed at reducing procurement costs and mitigating the risk of supply disruptions for components and parts.

Please note that this is a Full-time/Permanent and hybrid position in our facility in Beauport, QC.

What You'll Do as a Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Cost

You will work closely with our Sustaining Engineering team to:

  • Evaluate opportunities to modify part designs to achieve cost reductions or reduce the risk of supply disruptions;
  • Implement cost-reduction opportunities by working closely with our suppliers;
  • Identifiy cost-saving opportunities that may involve sourcing from new suppliers;

When a design modification project is approved, you will:

  • Propose new designs.
  • Identifiy risks.
  • Assess feasibility with the Procurement and Engineering teams.
  • Validate compliance with applicable standards.
  • Review and validate designs with the Quality team.
  • Prepare engineering drawings.
  • Develop prototypes in collaboration with the Manufacturing team.
  • Implement design changes.
  • Maintain awareness of developments in materials, technologies, assembly methods, and related industry advancements
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Member of the Ordre of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).
  • At least 5years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical design tools.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Natural hands-on mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This position requires knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties involved, including regular communications outside the province of Quebec, training, email communications, and frequent meetings and interactions with English-only employees.
