Job Description

EBAD seeks an accomplished engineer for the position Mechanical Design Engineer, reporting to the Mechanical Design Lead. The position is located in Simsbury, CT.

Responsibilities:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will perform conceptual development and modeling of energetic components and systems for aerospace and defense programs. The Mechanical Design Engineer interacts with program teams and customers to ensure designs meet requirements and is responsible for the design from conception through qualification and production.

  • Develop 3D product models to meet customer design requirements
  • Select material specification to meet environmental requirements.
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing, cost, and performance.
  • Generate 2D drawings as required for TDP creation.
  • Interact with customers on design, interface and functional details.
  • Support project and operations teams
  • Support existing products and product upgrades
  • Participate in failure analysis activities
  • Performs design trade studies and hand calculations
  • Perform tolerance studies
  • Support bid and proposal activities.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and experience with the design of aerospace and defense products. A degree can be waived based on significant years of relevant experience.

Required experience includes:

  • Demonstrated experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings.
  • Understands requirements in customer and military specifications and how they apply to design
  • Understands GD&T and how it effects part cost and manufacturability
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and with customers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite software.

Desired skills: CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred. Experience with energetic materials a plus.Demonstrated history of driving tasks to closure.
