ATR International is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to support a client in San Diego, CA. This role performs a variety of operations to assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures, working from assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to build drawers, chassis, enclosures, and racks.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures per assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Perform hand soldering, wire harnessing, and cabling on assembly units
- Determine and/or follow proper methods and sequence of operations for assigned tasks
- Perform routine go/no-go testing of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies
- Set up test devices using hand tools or automated test methods
- Document test results and maintain logs/records of malfunctions as needed
- Perform repair work and other duties as assigned
- Work on assignments of moderate complexity requiring sound judgment and initiative in resolving problems
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6+ months of mechanical assembly experience
- Working knowledge of component polarity
- Ability to read and work from schematics/drawings
- Experience with soldering, wire-wrapping, and cable harnessing
- Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with IPC-610 standards; SMT machine experience and ESD knowledge a plus
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
