Senior Wire Harness Assembly Technician Description

Our client in the electronic manufacturing industry is looking for a Senior Wire Harness Assembly Technician to join their team. In this role, you will build complex cable and wire harness assemblies to customer specifications and AS9100 standards. As a Senior (Level III) Assembly Technician, you will spend up to 30% of your time leading, training, and mentoring fellow assemblers and serving as the go-to resource for technical questions. You will receive drawings and parts and be expected to figure out how to build exactly what the customer wants with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has an engineering mindset, genuine desire to lead others, and takes pride in their work. Senior Wire Harness Assembly Technician Responsibilities

  • Build complex cable/wire harness assemblies to specification with minimal supervision
  • Ensure all finished products are completed with quality and compliant with requirements
  • Interpret customer drawings and parts and build simple, repeatable assembly plans
  • Meet/exceed build times and manage KPI effectively
  • Measure, cut, strip, and crimp wires; use rulers, calipers, and torque wrenches accurately
  • Solder wires from 10AWG to 30AWG
  • Predict and prevent assembly issues proactively
  • Create, revise, and train others to work instructions; adapt quickly to new instructions
  • Lead, mentor, and train junior assemblers; serve as go-to technical resource across work cells
  • Create production notes and assembly aids
  • Suggest process improvements
  • Initiate corrective action on any product, process, or QMS non-conformity
  • Follow all ESD, FOD, AS9100, and safety protocols; report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Complete AS9100, quality, and other company-sponsored training as required

Senior Wire Harness Assembly Technician Qualifications

  • 3+ years of cable assembly experience required
  • Current or recently expired IPC-620 certification required
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and create assembly instructions required
  • Exposure to working within QMS environment required
  • Familiarity with ESD, FOD, and safety protocols required
  • Desire to mentor and lead others required
