Automation Build & Deployment Technician
Location: Columbus, OH
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: 25%+ Domestic & International
Compensation based on experience: $30-36/hr 

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Automation Build & Deployment Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, and deployment of advanced robotic and automated equipment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building equipment, solving mechanical and electrical problems, working with their hands, and seeing machinery go from assembly through installation and operation.
The ideal candidate has experience with machine building, automation equipment, electromechanical assembly, robotics, field service, or industrial machinery and is comfortable traveling to support equipment deployments.

What You’ll Do
  • Build, assemble, and deploy advanced automated and robotic equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of machinery and equipment.
  • Install and integrate mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during equipment builds and deployments.
  • Support equipment testing, installation, startup, and field activities.
  • Perform light fabrication of components and test parts, including cutting, bending, drilling, and welding.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and general shop equipment.
  • Assist with equipment modifications, adjustments, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles.
  • Work closely with engineering and technical teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Adapt to changing project requirements and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Travel domestically and internationally approximately 25% or more to support equipment deployments.

What We’re Looking For
  • Technical/trade school certification, Associate degree in Engineering Technology, BS in Engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience assembling and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience with industrial automation, robotics, custom machinery, machine building, manufacturing equipment, or similar systems strongly preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with mechanical assemblies, electrical components, hardware, and equipment.
  • Fabrication or machine shop experience preferred.
  • Experience using shop equipment and hand/power tools.
  • Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings, assembly documentation, or technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working with small or fragile components.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting problems and working through situations where the solution may not be immediately defined.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and technical teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with an eagerness to learn new equipment and technologies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 25%+ domestically and internationally.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate shop tools and equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and work in various positions around industrial equipment.
  • Comfortable working in an active machine-building and manufacturing environment.
