Job description

Complete a 4-12 week program (internal 4-6, external 8-12) in preparation of being assigned a department manager position. Travel within the division to train and provide relief. Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor/control all established quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties and activities for the department.

Support the day-to-day functions of the Meat/Seafood operations. Embrace full, fresh & friendly and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. RESPONSIBILITIES - Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals

  • Establish performance goals for department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets
  • Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation
  • Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, company guidelines, and food safety regulations
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
  • Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results
  • Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management
  • Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming and special in-store promotions, especially promotions that affect the Meat/Seafood department; stay current on present, future, and seasonal ads
  • Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor, implement period promotional plan for department
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory
  • Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs
  • Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process; monitor/control expenses for the department
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained; reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
  • Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum

Excellent oral/written communication skills

Ability to handle stressful situations

Basic math skills (i.e., counting, addition, and subtraction)
