Job description

Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  •  The Utah Department of Agriculture is looking for a Meat Inspector to partnership with our plant owners and ensure meat products are clean, wholesome and properly labeled.  You will gain hands on experience inspecting meat slaughter and processing establishments.
    Principal Duties:
    Ante-mortem and Post-mortem inspection for livestock.
    Inspections of processing plants.
    Work in conditions ranging from 100 degrees to freezing temperatures.
    Red meat viscera inspection requires palpitation of organs and slicing with extremely sharp knives.  
    Check color and abnormalities of product that would make it unfit for human consumption.
    Driving to different regions to inspect meat establishments.
    Perform Sanitation Standards and Operating Procedures, Hazardous Analysis and Consumer Protection tasks.
