Store Support Associate (Meat Department)

Marukai Markets dba TOKYO CENTRAL is one of the fastest-growing chain of retail stores and supermarkets offering the widest selection of Japanese and Hawaiian imported grocery and retail products in the nation. Customers are provided with a variety of products that you will not find in a typical grocery store environment. Fresh, seasonal, and variety of foods are our passion!

We're immediately hiring associates for our Meat Department. Meat cutters, Butchers, and experienced Meat Clerks are needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Meat Department (Meat Clerk) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

Cleaning, packaging, and cutting meat

Ensuring proper presentation of our meat items along with providing a smile, greeting, and assisting customers who visit our Store.

Ensures meat and deli items are handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised

Checks product temperature to ensure freshness and quality

Ability to maintain a knife grip in order to cut meat to specification

Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate meat products per Marukai' standards

Unloading meat and deli Items upon vendor deliveries

Checks product temperature to ensure freshness and quality

Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate perishable products per Marukai' standards

Ensures that all meat products are in its right place, so shoppers can find what they need quickly and easily

Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine

Unpacking and stocking meat items

Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep

Must clean and sanitize work areas

Work Environment will be in extreme temperature

Customer Service:

Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions

Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques

Meets or exceeds Department's sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures

Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor

Ensures a safe and clean work environment

Cross Training:

Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.

Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper

No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred

Previous experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter is preferred

Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one

Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid

Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, and meat while performing job duties.
